Waste Dumps / Kibera Slum, Nairobi, Kenya
In Kibera, mounds of waste grow between makeshift buildings and along paths and residences. Prevalence of waste and poor sanitation contributes to the spread of disease in the Kibera, however many youth have begun promoting environmental conservation by unclogging the drainage system and organizing weekly clean-ups. One youth group has managed to provide garbage collection to over 150 clients within Kibera slum and surrounding estates.
